About the Artist

Steve Wilcox

Steve Wilcox is an eclectic musician, songwriter and guitarist whose musical journey spans decades, countries and genres.

Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Steve grew up in a musical household and began writing songs as a teenager. His journey took him from alternative bands and the London music scene to blues, reggae, folk, rock, world music and eventually Christian music.

After coming to faith in Christ, his songwriting began to draw from both his extensive musical influences and his faith.

Today, Steve is focused on recording and releasing the large body of original music he has developed throughout his life.

“His genre is his journey.”

Steve does not see himself as belonging to one genre. His musical identity has been shaped by a lifetime of listening, playing and experimenting — from blues, rock and reggae to indie, folk, world music, jazz fusion, country and contemporary Christian music.

Rather than limiting these influences, Steve brings them together in his own way. His approach is less about fitting into a category and more about taking inspiration from different places and turning it into something personal.

The Why

For the searching.

The songs live in the space between confusion and hope — questions about life, truth, loneliness, resilience and what it means to find an anchor. They are not sermons. They are songs from the journey.

The Music

Three songs. One journey.

The Crossfire release story moves from alertness, through ache, toward resilience.
